Rebecca O. Johnson has been involved in grassroots community organizations for over thirty years. As Board President of the Contact Center in Cincinnati, she observed how people – being taught in a way that worked with how they uniquely processed information and learned – improved their abilities for effective community organization and achieving various goals. As the inaugural technical assistance provider for one of the first foundation-based technical assistance programs at the Boston Women’s Fund (BWF), Rebecca gained skills that helped her contribute to The Women of Color Fundraising Institute (WOCFI). Through the WOCFI she taught financial management and progressive fundraising to women of color with leadership roles in small organizations. She worked with environmental justice organizations through the Environmental Support Center, the Gulf Coast Fund, and her own consulting practice. Rebecca is a core consultant among the original group of RoadMap, and has led the governing body, making a unique contribution to the organization as it transitioned to new leadership and gained its independent tax-exempt status.
