Saima Husain

Saima Husain is the Co-Executive Director (Programs) of generative somatics. She joined the gs staff team in January 2020 with over 20 years of experience in social justice movements. Saima has worked in a variety of capacities from research and writing to direct services, organizing, and fundraising in the areas of human rights, gender justice, and immigrant rights. In addition to her paid work, Saima organizes with LA COiL (Communities Organizing for Liberation). Saima took her first gs course (SOEL!) in 2014 and joined teacher training in 2018. Saima was born in Pakistan and raised in four countries. She calls many places home but has lived in Southern California the longest – 13 years. Saima is also a mama to a feisty little human, Amaliya. Together they enjoy belly laughs, impromptu kitchen dance parties, and discussing the expansive night sky.
