Mia Henry

Mia Henry has been involved in social justice work for more than 20 years in a myriad of ways. She is the founder and CEO of Freedom Lifted, an organization that through training, coaching, and online learning supports Justice-centered leadership development. Originally Freedom Lifted was a civil rights tour company that Mia transformed into one of the most important training organizations for understanding frameworks for justice and equity. At Kalamazoo College, she brought her skills to the position of Executive Director of the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership which provided capacity-building and education to activists. Mia has also worked in the education field in various capacities, such as being a high school history teacher and a staff administrator. She was the founding director of the nonprofit Chicago Freedom School which provides a political education to young people and adults that are involved in youth-led social change. Mia received the M.S. Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. from Rutgers University.
